Pink Floyd: Pulse (Disc 2 of 2-disc DVD)

By Dennis D. McDonald

I remember seeing Pink Floyd perform DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in a live outdoor concert many years ago in Maryland. It was NOTHING like this spectacular -- and huge -- show recorded in 1994, newly released on DVD with a remastered surround soundtrack.

The light show is astonishing. The programming and choreographing of effects integrated with both live and recorded music are something to behold. (It would be interesting to see how much electricity was required to power this show given the huge number of motorized mountings driving the lights.)

We hear DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WISH YOU WERE HERE, and other selections on this second DVD of a 2-DVD set. Some moderately interesting extras are included, but the concert itself and the fabulous surround sound are the real treat here.

This has given me an idea for a birthday gift for my stepson that I actually think he'll enjoy. I'm really glad that I read this.

If you want to see Pink Floyd's music performed live, you should check out the Australian Pink Floyd Show if/when they come through your area

We saw them at the Greek Theater in LA last fall. Not as spectacular as the concert on Pulse, certainly, but seeing the live performance in a relatively small venue was incredible. They performed all of DSOTM and a great selection of old Floyd. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun was surreal. One of These Days included a 30 foot inflatable dancing kangaroo. They also had the mirror ball during Comfortably Numb.

Have you yet seen Children of Men? There is a character in the movie who lives near Battersea Power Station and has the Pink Floyd pig in his apartment.

Father, I beleive you are mistaken. The pig was outside of the appartment. Apparently the world coming to an end makes people feel a need to set up Pink Floyd tibutes...

Hi Uncle Denis!!!

Is the remastered version of PULSE full wide screen? Where gcan I order??
