Tom Hooper's THE KING'S SPEECH

Movie review by Dennis D. McDonald

Geoffrey Rush & Colin FirthExcellent film. Excellent cast, intelligent acting, beautiful photography, meticulous set and costume design, brilliant script, superb use of music in soundtrack. Adult, mature, intelligent, and emotionally satisfying.

Seen in a theater full of older people like me. Applause at end. Hope younger folks see this film. Makes emotional anguish of approaching war palpable on a personal level.

Personal favorite: glimpses of equipment in BBC studios — high tech for the time with a global reach!

Only fly in ointment: annoying commercials for upcoming TV shows before film. One of the reasons I go to movies is that I don’t like watching TV shows! Give me a break!
