Ed Harris' APPALOOSA

By Dennis D. McDonald

I liked a lot of things about this movie:

  • Casting
  • Photography
  • The Locomotive
  • The Dialog
  • Ed Harris’ Hat

If you’re craving an adult Western, this one’s for you. Would it be as good for someone who didn’t have a history of liking and watching Westerns? Maybe not, but familiarity also breeds enjoyment when what you are seeing is recognizable yet treated in a professional and artistic manner.

It’s also a pleasure seeing a “buddy” film treated with such maturity and class. Highly recommended, and try to see it on the big screen. Even the commonplace domestic details are visually stunning.
