As I salivate at getting several new iPhone 4s smartphones via some kind of “family plan” and try to decide what storage capacity I’ll need to replace my worn-out-but-serviceable iPod Classic, my thoughts return to the gadgets of my youth.

In Whoops, I didn’t mean for you to read this Brian Solis explains Facebook’s new “frictionless sharing” model which gives people the ability, when they install a new Facebook app that makes such sharing possible, to decide whether or not they want their app-related behaviors to be automatically added to their Facebook timeline. This then makes it possible for Facebook followers to receive automatic notifications of these behaviors and provides advertisers with invaluable data on personal behavior and preferences.

Audit of the VA's Project Management Accountability System (PMAS) Implementation
Here’s some light reading: the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs’ Office of the Inspector General’s “Audit of the Project Management Accountability System Implementation.” Known as “PMAS,” the system was put in place in 2009 to provide better oversight of the VA’s troubled IT development projects. This was done in light of a history of cost overruns and failed IT projects at the VA.

Over the weekend I “weeded” our home book collection. We’re remodeling both our living room and dining room in anticipation of our daughter coming home later this year from the Peace Corps. We’re reducing the number of linear shelf feet devoted to books, CD’s, and DVD’s as we change things around a bit and as we adjust to the increasing importance of digital media.

On the Need to Tolerate Communication Diversity
IBM’s Luis Suarez’ blog post Social Media at Work presents basic arguments for why organizations, not just individuals, need to adopt social media as a normal part of their communication infrastructure. He suggests that organizations need to adopt social media because their employees and their customers are using social media.

I’ve been using Google+ for less than a week. I’m impressed with what I see. Granted, not a lot of people in my “inner circle” are on yet and I’m taking this process one step at a time.
It’s fashionable these days to point to Facebook’s ascendancy as why Google-type search’s dominance of the Internet is over.
I’ve been researching Google+. I’m looking forward to trying it out. I haven’t been begging for an invite, though. The reason has nothing to do with reluctance or disinterest.
